This year’s Diwali was very special for Indians with spectacular victory against Pakistan in the first match of the World Cup. At the same time, this Diwali became more special for the people with the news of Indian-origin Rishi Sunak becoming the Prime Minister of Britain. From the general public to the Bollywood stars, everyone was overjoyed and congratulated Rishi Sunak in their own style.
Anupam Kher lauded Rishi Sunak by posting pictures on Instagram with caption, “Sawaal yeh nahi ki @rishisunakmp Hindu hai, Muslim hai, Sikh hai, ya Isayi hai. Garv ki baat yeh honi chahiye ki ek multah Bhartiya humari desh ki azaadi ke 75 Varsh mein us desh ka prime minister bana hai, jisne hum par laghbhag 200 saal raaj kiya (The question isn’t that if @rishisunakmp is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian. It should be a matter of pride that an Indian origin, on the 75th year of our independence, became Prime Minister of that country which ruled over us for 200 years).”
“Every Indian should celebrate this achievement! Jai Hind (folded hands emoji). He also added the hashtags – ‘kuch bhi ho sakta hai (anything can happen)’, ‘Indian’ and ‘Prime minister’.
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan shared a cool picture of himself in a black tracksuit with a hoodie on Instagram. He captioned the post with, “Jai Bharat. now the UK finally has a new viceroy as its Prime Minister from the Mother Country.”
Bollywood’s famous actress Neetu Kapoor shared a picture of Rishi Raj Sunak on Instagram Stories and wrote, “Rishi Raj” Sunak (getting cheap thrills with the name). The UK PM’s name is similar to Neetu’s late actor husband Rishi Kapoor.
Film producer Vivek Agnihotri also took to twitter and tweeted, “Congratulations to the first Hindu PM of UK @RishiSunak. Civilisational justice.”
